A new kind of public space where
communities grow food, learn from
the land, and nature is restored.

Farm Park will be a 19+ acre public food forest and community space in East Lake, Tennessee that brings together heirloom farming, local businesses, gathering areas, and regenerative water systems into one integrated landscape. It supports the surrounding community in practical ways while serving as a living example of how cities can build more resilient, community-driven green spaces nationwide.

Imagine walking through a park where everything around you has purpose

Fruit trees, native plants, flowing water.

Children learning what grows around them.

Families gathering in a place that feels alive.

Food growing all around you.

Abundance Intention Connection

Instead, we’ve lost our connection to the land.

The way that we’re living isn’t working.

Access to green space is limited.

Connection to food is disappearing.

Many communities no longer have places where people can gather, learn, and grow together.

The systems around us are designed to take more than they give back.

There’s a better way to live.

Farm Park Tennessee is a public food forest, community park, and education space designed to bring people, food, and nature back into relationship with one another.

We can create a space that provides for all.

  • Fruit trees, perennial crops, and native plants will be layered throughout the park so people can walk through, learn from, and responsibility harvest from the landscape over time. This is designed to be a long-term, self-sustaining system that grows more productive each year.

  • Designated areas throughout the park will support hands-on learning for local schools and families, from growing food to understanding native ecosystems and water systems. These spaces are built and integrated directly into the landscape..

  • At the center of the park, a shared hub will provide space for small businesses, a coffee shop, a farmers market, and community events. It’s designed to create everyday activity and support local entrepreneurship within the neighborhood.

  • The park will incorporate rain gardens, natural filtration, and water capture systems that slow, clean, and reuse stormwater across the site. These systems support plant life while reducing runoff and improving the surrounding environment.

  • Open areas, natural gathering spaces, and flexible structures will support performances, public art, and community-led events. These spaces are meant to reflect the culture of the neighborhood and evolve over time.

This project is rooted in East Lake.

A community with a strong history and deep connection to the land.

Farm Park is being designed to meet real local needs, including access to green space, fresh food, education, and opportunities for small businesses, all within walking distance of the surrounding neighborhood.

Tennessee is just the beginning.

Farm Park is structured to test and demonstrate approaches that can be used in other parks, cities, and states across the country.

Farm Park Tennessee is not just a park. It is a working, living example of how communities can build spaces that help prepare local communities for changing environmental conditions and more resilient ways of living.

  • What’s built here is meant to be studied, improved, and adapted elsewhere. This includes:

    • how to turn underused urban land into productive, community-supported spaces

    • how to integrate food systems, education, and local economic activity in one place

    • how to use natural systems like water capture and native planting to support long-term sustainability

    • how to build public-private partnerships that expand green space without relying entirely on public funding

At its core, Farm Park is built on one simple idea.

The land feeds people.

People care for the land.

Everything is designed to give back more than it takes, creating a space that continues to grow, support, and sustain the community around it.

This vision is bringing together educators, nonprofits, local organizations, and community leaders across Tennessee.

We are actively building partnerships with schools, conservation groups, and institutions who believe in the long-term impact of this work.

  • "I want you to feel like a little bear, walking around plucking berries straight from the plant. I want you to feel welcomed into the natural world we are fortunate to live in. You shouldn't have to travel across town, pay for parking, and limit your outdoor time to an hour."

    — Blake Wright, Luthe Land Legacy

  • “This is a rare chance for us to shape the future of one of the last significant open spaces on The Ridge.”

    — Ashley Raymond, MRNA President Emeritus

  • "East Lake currently experiences some of the highest surface temperatures in Chattanooga, with summer readings reaching up to 130 degrees. Expanding canopy cover would help lower those temperatures and create a cooler, healthier neighborhood."

    — Jimi Miller, Chattanooga Tree Project
