Fund a Hungry Bear Box

What is a Hungry Bear Box?

A seasonal food box provided to a household in East Lake each year. Contents start with locally foraged foods and grow substantially as Farm Park expands.

Year One Boxes

Founding boxes will source as much as possible from the land, and if necessary, will be subsidized with our partnership with CHI Markets.

  • Blackberries

  • Nuts

  • Herbal teas

  • Edible flowers

  • Locally foraged foods

As Farm Park Grows

Our goal is to increase the amount of nourishment each year. As Farm Park expands and partnerships deepen, boxes may eventually include:

  • Fresh produce

  • Mushrooms

  • Fruit

  • Acorn flour

  • Medicinal plants

  • Artisan goods

This is not a one-time food drive.
It’s the beginning of a long-term ecosystem.

Who receives the boxes? East Lake households, families, and elders.

Hungry Bear Boxes are distributed to households in East Lake neighborhood located in the heart of Chattanooga, TN.

Nearly half of residents are under 21. Many families face growing food insecurity and limited access to fresh, locally grown foods.

This initiative is rooted in the belief that strong communities are built when neighbors invest in one another over time.

As Farm Park grows, the quantity and variety of food shared through those boxes will continue year after year, helping create a more resilient food system for East Lake families.

Why an annual donation commitment?

Real food systems take time to grow.
